Land of Burns
By Eden Short
2015
A zine-exploration of a previous series of publications I Like Big Maps & I Cannot Lie.
Researching New Zealand’s Land of Burns and it’s history, I came across the phenomenon where Scottish farmyard names are names of towns.
Farmyard animals shown in this zine are illustrations of a selection of some town names of this region. To connect back to its Scottish heritage poetry is used from the Robert Burns poetry book, also named The Land of Burns. Topographical illustrations and poetry juxtapose each other as the back of each print is a key to which animal is hidden.
